Our Office is committed to making sure that patients about to undergo Chemo or Radiation treatment are properly screened and dentally prepared for treatment.
Medications used in chemotherapy such as bisphonates affect bone healing. Therefore, any teeth needing extractions should ideally be completed before initiation of chemotherapy. Evaluation of oral health and initiation of periodontal treatment and any restorative that may require urgent care. All efforts are made to accommodate patients, even if an adjustment of the schedule is needed to allow for treatment with minimal delay of the cancer treatment. Afterwards, medical clearance can be given after treatment to stabilize their oral health can be established.
